Llanfwrog Church is situated on the top of a hill on the western edge of the market town of Ruthin. It still retains a distinct rural atmosphere and there are extensive views of the Vale of Clwyd and the mountains of the Clwydian range from the churchyard.
Christian worship has taken place on this site since the 6th century, when Mwrog (a little known Celtic saint) first proclaimed the Gospel in this part of the world. Parts of the present church date from the 13th century. The building has been restored many times in its long history, the latest restoration being in 1999, when the church was made more ‘user friendly’ for the twentieth century. It is currently being prayerful considered what might be done to bring it into the twenty first century!
Llanfwrog is a small and friendly church and its worship is in an informal style which makes it easy for everyone to join in.
Mae Eglwys Llanfwrog ar ben bryn ar ymyl orllewinol tref farchnad Rhuthun. Mae’n dal i gadw awyrgylch gwledig amlwg ac mae golygfeydd helaeth o Fro Clwyd a’r mynyddoedd o’r fynwent.
Mae addoliad Cristnogol wedi digwydd ar y safle hwn ers y 6ed ganrif, pan gyhoeddodd Mwrog (sant Celtaidd ychydig yn hysbys) yr Efengyl yn y rhan hon o’r byd. Mae rhannau o’r eglwys bresennol yn dyddio o’r 13eg ganrif. Mae’r adeilad wedi’i adfer lawer gwaith yn ei hanes hir, a’r gwaith adfer diweddaraf ym 1999, pan wnaed yr eglwys yn fwy ‘hawdd ei defnyddio’ ar gyfer yr ugeinfed ganrif. Ar hyn o bryd mae’n cael ei ystyried yn weddigar beth ellid ei wneud i ddod ag ef i’r unfed ganrif ar hugain!
Mae Llanfwrog yn eglwys fach a chyfeillgar ac mae ei haddoliad mewn arddull anffurfiol sy’n ei gwneud hi’n hawdd i bawb ymuno.
