There is something deep in the human soul which is touched by music and the Church has a long tradition spanning centuries of supporting and encouraging music as a lifelong joy that should be open for all. Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area Music Pathways is an exciting new inclusive project which aims, first and foremost, to offer a range of free musical educations and activities to local children and young people of all ages and abilities.
What do we offer?
Unlike the majority of other education schemes run in Churches and Cathedrals throughout Wales we feel it is very important to focus on offering a number of different activities rather than just the traditional ones. This means we developing different Music Pathways including both traditional and contemporary routes to best engage and encourage as many young people as possible. Whilst Dyffryn Clwyd Music Pathways is based and operates in a Christian setting, this scheme is therefore respectfully open to young people from all faiths and backgrounds.
At present we have 2 pathways open, the Song School based in St Peter’s Church Llanbedr DC, and a new Community Choir also based in St Peter’s Llanbedr DC. We will adding more including organ scholarships soon.
Both the Song School and Dyffryn Clwyd Singers are run by Deborah Catterall who has over 40 years of experience in teaching and leading choirs.
