Newsletter for the Sunday before Lent

Hi All

I hope everyone is keeping well and safe.

As our brief sojourn in Ordinary time draws to an end this week and Lent beckons us there’s plenty going on over this next week.
As well as our usual Sunday services, this Sunday we’ve also got –
Wild Church in Clocaenog at 9.30am
Clwb Cynhafal in Llangynhafal at 9.45
Our Monthly Gosber at 6pm, this time Llangynhafal will be playing host.

Then as we move on into next week we’re celebrating both St David’s Day and Shrove Tuesday at the same time!
In Llanrhydd from 10.30am – 12pm there will be refreshments for Dewi Sant with a frugal lunch.
In Llanarmon at 12pm there will be Pancakes served in the Hall.
Also on Tuesday we will be starting the Llanbedr branch of Song School, meeting after school at 3.30pm in the Church (the Friday at Ruthin at 4pm will continue). It’s great to see this ministry grow and more kids getting involved in the life-long joy of singing. Please do encourage any young people you know to join either in Llanbedr or Ruthin (and we hope soon to start another group in Clocaenog).

On Ash Wednesday, for those who aren’t coming to the Quiet Day, there will be a Eucharist with Ashing at 6pm in St Peter’s Ruthin.

Drop in Friday’s continues from 9.30am to 2pm in St Peter’s Ruthin, if you get the chance do drop in to enjoy the hospitality on offer and see what they’re up to

And next Saturday we’ll be holding the next Llanbedr Wild Church at 2pm (it’s ok, I’ve checked, there’s no rugby on this time!).

This week we’ll also be starting to offer more hospitality in 2 of our churches, in Llanfair DC & Llanbedr DC. With thanks to Jonathan Major for sourcing us a good deal from Majestic Coffee’s, we’re investing in 2 self-service coffee machines which offer a range of fresh bean to cup coffee’s as well as hot chocolate and tea. These are going to be installed on Tuesday afternoon, and with the churches open every day you’ll be able to pop in and pick up a fresh coffee (bio-degradable cups of course in line with our Eco-Church status!) to enjoy in the church, or take with you. Why not pop in and try it and then take some time exploring the churchyard and enjoy the spring flower.

And don’t forget we’ll be starting our Lent course on Monday the 7th of March, meeting each week through Lent at 7pm until 8.30pm on Zoom. The course we’ll be following is to help us think through where we are as individual churches and plot our path to move from maintenance to mission and grow new disciples. We really do want as many people as possible to participate in this. So far though only 3 people have let me know that they would like to take part. So that we can get everything prepared I need people to let me know if they are able to take part by this coming Wednesday. Please email me or phone me to let me know if you are able to be part of this.
