This week’s newsletter Sunday 15th January 2023

Dear friends

Welcome to this week’s newsletter, as we approach the second Sunday of Epiphany. Also, please find attached a letter from the Diocesan Office thanking all Mission Areas for paying their share before the deadline, and announcing that the Board of Finance has decided to use some of this funding to double the value of the Mission Area Share Discount Scheme in 2023. This is great news and testament to everyone’s hard work, faith and dedication.

It was lovely to see so many of you on Friday evening at St Peter’s for the Epiphany service, where we welcomed the kings and sampled some delicious festive treats! Tad Huw marked the church doors of St Peter’s with the traditional Epiphany chalk markings of ’20 + C + M + B + 23′. This is a centuries old practice and means:

2023 – this year

CMB – the initials of the three wise men (Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar).

Many of our churches throughout Dyffryn Clwyd Mission Area also used blessed chalk to mark their doors.

All services have now returned to normal following the Christmas period and as we enjoy a period of rest and relaxation, there are few other special services and events to share with you. However, as we start to think about Lent and Easter, please can I kindly ask all churches to get in touch with me and let me know what you are planning – services, special events, fundraising etc. I will gladly help you with marketing and advertising, such as designing posters, advertising events on the website, social media and PR, and anything else you need! My email is imogen@dyffrynclwyd.co.uk and new mobile number is 07543 504486.

Please continue to hold in your prayers our clergy, lay ministers and hard-working volunteers as we embark upon 2023. The new year will offer opportunities aplenty for us to continue, and develop, our work as a Mission Area with the comfort that the Lord will always be walking beside us.

A date for your diary! Mission Area Easter Vestry Meeting

An official notice will be published and distributed in due course. However, please note that the Mission Area Easter Vestry Meeting has been scheduled for the 27th of April at 7pm in Llanfair Church.

Kind regards
